Press Release for Upstate NY SCREENS Event
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Craig Hatkoff, co-founder with his wife Jane Rosenthal and Robert De Niro of the Tribeca Film Festival and Institute, will be honored by University at Albany President George Philip and on hand to launch a university humanities and technology initiative, UPSTATE NEW YORK SCREENS, May 3, 2012.
The day will begin with a breakfast in University Hall where Mr. Hatkoff will discuss film production and its impact as a viable, ongoing economic driver for a region before leaders from the film, government, and business communities. A town hall panel discussion and “TED-like talk” by Mr. Hatkoff, open to the public, and featuring prominent members of the state and regional film communities will follow.
The May 3 occasion will kick off a series of events produced by UPSTATE NEW YORK SCREENS including a documentary film and symposia on the Albany mummies and the debut of a regional cinematic expo offering industry buyers, sellers, producers, creative talent, student and community participants from all over the state a platform to exchange ideas, business opportunities, and a showcase for their products. The SCREENS 2013 expo will include a content marketplace, a trade exhibition, master classes and workshops, screenings, and a celebration and retrospective of an iconic filmmaker whose work will be
the centerpiece and focus of the events.
The University at Albany Foundation in partnership with the Center for Humanities, Arts, and TechnoSciences (CHATS) and the Albany Convention and Tourism Bureau is incubating UPSTATE NEW YORK SCREENS .
